Bike: I'm riding a Canyon Endurace AL (2019) with a GRX crankset (48/31) and an Ultegra rear derailleur (11–34). The wheels are a Nextie CGX 35 dynamo wheelset from CustomCycleWheels, paired with Pirelli Cinturato Velo 35 mm tires. For lighting and charging, I’m using a Supernova setup and the Forumslader.

Bag-wise, I’ve got an Apidura top tube bag for electronics, tools, and spares, plus a half frame bag for quick-access clothing like arm and leg warmers, a gilet, and gloves. Up front, there’s a Miss Grape IlCoso handlebar cradle with a 3L dry bag for rain gear and cold-weather layers. In the back, I’m using an Ortlieb 11L seat pack to carry my sleeping system and a warm jacket.

Key items of kit: Bringing the Sea to Summit Spark I sleeping bag, a Therm-a-Rest NeoAir pad, and a SOL Escape Bivy. A CamelBak hydration vest and Spotify keep me company on the endless climbs.

Benno Sellin

Age: 34

Cap number: 97

Location: Prien am Chiemsee, Germany

Bike: I will be riding a Cannondale Topstone Carbon from 2021. Possibly not the best bike for the Job but it’s the one I have. It runs alloy wheels from Vision and a cockpit with parts from Zipp, FSA and Profile Design. Combined with mountainbike Shimano XT pedals. Bags are all from Cyclite, computer is a Hammerhead Karoo. My main light is from Knog and the PWR MNTN version. Plus two rear lights from Sigma and a headlamp with 3 batteries.

Key items of kit: There are a few parts that make this build special. The Topstone Frame has the built in KingPin suspension on the rear. That’s helping on long rides and also on rough terrain. Since there is a lot of climbing and very steep sections on the route I am using a GRX600/812 mechanical group set with 46-30 super compact chain ring in the front and 11-42 11s cassette in the back. Also, the third bottle mount from Fidlock can hold any bottle I like to take, even tetra packs.

Bike: My bike is a gravel bike from the stevens brand in Hamburg. The bike is 3 years old and already has many kilometres on the clock. To be a bit faster, I have changed from my 40mm gravel tyres to 32mm road tyres with increased puncture protection.

Key items of kit: The bike is fitted with a saddle bag, a handlebar bag from the brand Topeak. The food pouches are from Zefal and the frame bag from AGU. I mainly have clothes in the bags that are covered for summer to winter. Plus a few tools and electronics. I don't have any sleeping gear except a rescue blanket.
